Fashion weeks are following one another, from New York to London, from Milan to Paris. Of course, some other cities host fashion weeks as well, but all in all, these four cities are diamonds of a golden ring. Last week, first time in my life, I had a chance to attend the
Milan Fashion Week, it was also my first visit to Milan. What a lovely time to see the vibrant life of the city. Huge thanks to
Accademia Dell Lusso (more on this in another post) and my friend
Konul for inviting me to Milan. In a week, I had an opportunity to discover glamour and energetic fashion industry of the city, by attending different events, cocktails and fashion shows, also meeting and interviewing some of the key people in the business. I will talk more about these in the next post, but lets first meet with the city of
Milan.

- This is the one of the largest and the most beautiful creature you have to see first, when you arrive to the city. It is located in the heart of the Milan, and adds its character and gothic charm to the cathedral square. The construction of the Duomo was started in 1385 and supported by the first duke of the Milan, Gian Galezzo Visconti. As he envisioned the creation of the world's largest church he gave access to his marble quarries and invited best architects from across the Europe. The construction finished very late, in 1965. The Duomo is decorated with 3159 amazingly beautiful sculptures, including the famous statue of the little Madonna.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II
- This is the one of the most beautiful
shopping galleries I have ever been, also one of the busiest. The landmark connects two very famous attractions of the Milan, the Duomo
di Milano and the Teatro della Scala and was meant to represent the union between the church and the state. It is the house of the very first
Prada store in the world as well, opened in 1913 by Mario Prada. This is where one of the world's most successful fashion houses started its business, by selling leather bags, trunks, beauty cases and luxury accessories. The gallery also hosts luxury shops of the
Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, Versace, Gucci and
Tod's.

Art and Architecture
- These two are the most paramount factors, that make any city to be a unique destination for tourists, and the Milan has it all. The city has a very rich architecture, from historical buildings to villas, monuments to modern-architectural buildings, churches to abbeys all add an assortment of the styles to the city. In terms of art, you can find different museums that offer a selection of the extraordinary masterpieces of the Italian artists. For example, one of the most famous paintings in the world-
Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper - is decorating the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, and one of the most well-known sculpture of the all time-
Michelangelo's unfinished
Pieta Rondanini is displayed at the museum of the Castello Sforzesco are the must see art pieces.

Shopping
- And Of Course!!! Shopping. Maybe this one is more important than those above factors. That is because we are talking about Milan, the city of pure Italian fashion. Every in a two steps it is either Dolce&Gabbana or Prada store :D which is appealing to me. Milan's most luxurious boutiques are located in the four famous districts which are together called Quadrilatero
d'Oro (rectangle of gold). Via della Spiga, Via Monzani, Via Sant'Andrea and the most popular Via Montenapalone host stores of
Gucci, Etro, Giuseppe Zanotti, Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino and
Miu Miu. We will come here again, later. For now, I want to enjoy my coffee while arranging photos for
the next post. :)
